About Me

I have been in the game industry for a bit over eight years now. I cant really believe it went by so fast.

I had always dreamed of getting a job in the game industry from a young age. I remember writing to Shiny Entertainment to ask them how I could get into the business. I liked to draw and was always into computers. I graduated high school a year early and took several art classes at my community college. All the while I had my eye on this school that Nintendo had started called Digipen. I applied and took an intense art test which promptly got me a letter in the mail which said I had been accepted. I moved to Redmond and worked my tail off night and day to make the best demo reel I could.

After a year of school, during the summer, I took an intern position at a company called Pipeworks. The are located in the town of Eugene Oregon. They asked me to stay and I decided to take them up on their offer. I had no idea I would end up working there for six years! I started as a texture and environment artist working in 3ds Max. Then moved into the position of character  modeler, rigging, and animation artist. Yes all three at the same time! I worked with some great people there and enjoyed working on a wide range of projects. I worked on Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Godzilla: Save the Earth, and Rampage: Total Destruction. Along with that I worked on the x-box 360 boot screen and at one point lead two teams to work on some other internal company projects.

At one point while I was working at Pipeworks we were having some studio financial difficulties and I worked at a company that is also in Eugene Oregon called Buzz Monkey. I initially worked on animation and ended up working on scripting several tools for them in Maya. I also did some environment modeling work. I worked there on site for about four months until Pipeworks decided they needed me back.

Two years ago I made the big move to LA California to work at a great company called Naughty Dog. Hopefully you have heard of our last project Uncharted: Drakes’ Fortune. I was hired as a technical artist with my main focus on character rigging and animation tools. I tend to get pulled into doing other odds and ends as well. Such as working with our design tools to set up an object that the player interacts with or writing scripts for anything that will make someones job easier.

I have been married for over five years. I enjoy playing video games and thinking about how to make them better. I really enjoy figuring out how things work and learning new skills. I also ride my bike to work every day and like to get outside to enjoy the sunny weather when I can.
